Family-Centered Catechesis Program Home Page!

Envisioned in 2006, developed in 2007, and debuted in 2008, the Family Centered-Catechesis Program provides opportunities for families to grow in their knowledge of and love for God, their Catholic faith, and each other.

Rooted in the belief that parents are the first and most important educators of their children in the faith,
the Family-Centered Catechesis Program strives to support parents in their role of passing on the Catholic faith to their children.  The Church so values the family that she calls the family "the domestic Church," meaning that some of the first experiences children have with respect to God and His love for us come through their contacts with their parents, siblings, and extended families.

Using this as our starting point,
the Family-Centered Catechesis Program is just that - family-centered.  This means that all members of the family (children and parents) gather for a monthly, family formation session centered around a monthly theme related to a general focus for the year.  Following the session, families then have the remainder of the month to continue to explore more deeply the theme through enriching family lesson incorporating prayer, Scripture, discussion, and activities.  Along with these pieces comes an absolutely essential element of the curriculum:  weekly attendance at Mass with the parish community.  As the old axiom goes, "The family that prays together stays together."  Through prayer at the family level, parents and children grow closer to each other and through our worship at weekend Masses, our larger parish family grows closer to each other.
