Chapter 20- Jesus taught us that through prayer, we grow in our understanding of God’s loving plan for us.

Lent- During the season of Lent, we remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and we turn to him in prayer and penance.

Holy Week – During Holy Week, we accompany Jesus through the events that lead to his Passion and death on the cross.

Easter –Easter is the Church’s greatest feast, celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Social Studies:

Unit 4- Most of the Middle West is made of the Central Plains and the Great Plains, which make up the Interior Plans. The Lakota lived here ad struggled to keep their land as European American pioneers began to settle in this area. Good soil and iron ore have helped to make the Middle West a region with an agricultural and manufacturing economy. Its economy remains strong today with its combination of technological, agricultural, and manufacturing activities.

Chapter 7- The Central Plains and Great Plains make up most of the Middle West.

The extremes of weather in the Middle West, present challenges to the farmers and other workers of the Middle West.

Chapter 8- Pioneers crossed the Appalachian Mountains and settled in the Middle West, where they found good land for farming.

Lakota lived on the Great Plains where they followed and hunted buffalo for a living.

Iron ore deposits and good transportation on rivers and lakes helped make the Middle West a manufacturing center.

The Middle West today has a strong economy because of its technological, agricultural, and manufacturing activities.

Unit 5- Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado make up the Mountain States region, with rugged terrain an abundant wildlife. The region has long been home to Shoshone people, many of whom made a living by following and hunting buffalo herds. Many Shoshone still make their home in the region. The Lewis and Clark expedition mapped much of the area, which experienced a boom after gold was found there. Minerals from Earth remain an important part of the economy today.

Chapter 9- Five states make up the Mountain States region, which is dominated by the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

The mountains of the region are a rich source of the mineral used in industry and as gems.
