These are the topics to be covered in Religion and Social Studies.

Thank you for you for visiting the sight

Religion:  In Unit 3- we will learn that Jesus Christ sent the Hoy Spirit to be our helper and guide. We will read about the sacraments of initiation and how the commandments can help us decide whether our words and actions show love for God and others.

Chapter 9 – The Holy Spirit guides, forgives, and renews the life of the Trinity in us. Through the Spirit, we persevere on our journey.

Chapter 10- In Confirmation the Holy Spirit strengthens us to become more like Jesus Christ.

Chapter 11- the fourth through sixth commandments calls us to respect life. Jesus calls us to love our neighbors as well.

Chapter 12- Constant prayer helps us be in union with God. It helps us understand and accept God’s great wisdom.

Social Studies:

Unit 2- The Southeast comprises 12 states from the Atlantic Coast to the Mississippi River. Rivers, farms, and coalmines are important resources of the region.  First the Cherokee and later the English settled in the region. Here colonists elected government’s leaders and the Civil War was fought. The civil rights movement led to changes in the region and the nation.

Chapter 3- Environment of the Southeast - The Southeast region has mountain ranges, rolling hills, powerful rivers, and marshy wetlands. The region is known for its fertile soil that allows many crops to grow. There are also valuable natural resources throughout the region.

Chapter 4- History and Economy of the Southeast – Native Americans farmed and hunted, and the English settlers established communities along the Atlantic coast in the Southeast region. The Southeast would be the home to many conflicts over issues such as slavery and civil rights. The region is still growing and changing today.

Unit 3- The Northeast includes the New England and Middle Atlantic states. The region has many cities as well as mountains and rolling farmland. The Iroquois lived inn villages in the region before European settlers arrived. The region’s people gained independence through participation in the American Revolution and developed manufacturing and transportation during the Industrial Revolution.

Chapter 5- Environment of the Northeast- The Northeast is the United States’ smallest region, but its landforms and features are the most recognized across the United States.

Chapter 6- History and Economy of the Northeast- The Northeast region was once home to many Native American. After European immigrants arrived, colonies formed and industry expanded. The Northeast is still changing today.
