We are comparing numbers, counting, adding,

subtracting, using tally marks, and graphing.

We use our small chalkboard to solve story problems

that have 4 and 5 addends.

We have begun estimating.

We used cubes as a non-standard form of measurement.

Our hearts had to be at least 25 cubes.

Social Studies/ Science

We are learning about famous

women in history.

We are recycling so far we have collected 811

plastic bottles and 213 cans.

We are using the scientific  inquiry.

We have an economic system in the classroom.

The children earn money by being in charge of the day.  They have to hire

their people to help hand out papers at the end of the day.  About once a

month they can use their money to buy items in the classroom store.

Response to Intervention

This year I am also using a reading strategy called response to intervention

which will help the children that are struggling with reading sight words

and comprehension.
