The following is a list of helpful information and procedures for my classes. These procedures will be discussed in the first few weeks of the school year. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with them before the beginning of the new school year.

IN THE HOMEROOM

Assignment Notebooks – The books should be used everyday to insure the student knows what is for homework that evening. Please encourage your student to use the assignment notebook.

Tardiness – Being tardy to school REQUIRES a note from home explaining why the student is tardy. Please do not call the office to say you are running late. The office has many other duties to take care of in the morning. Any student who does not bring in a note will not be able to participate in recess.

Absences – When a child is absent, please call the school office to alert us that your child will not be in school that day. Homework may be requested at this time but cannot be ready for pick up until 3:00pm.  When a student returns to school he or she must ask all of his/her teachers about the assignments he/she has missed. It is not up to the teachers to track down students for missing work. It is the responsibility of the student to make sure he/she knows what work is owed.

This is an important year because this year’s report card is sent to your student’s future high school. High schools do take into consideration the number of days absent and tardy. You want to make a good impression to your future high school so please try to attend everyday and avoid being tardy.

On another note, if your child is sick, they should stay home! If your child is not feeling well they should stay home to avoid passing germs onto others.

Morning Classroom

Procedures

1.       Walk into the classroom silently. There will be no talking in the mornings in homeroom.

2.       Go to your assigned desk and unpack your school bag.

3.       Read any notes written on the front chalkboard.

4.       Go to your locker and hang up your coat and take any materials you will need for your morning classes and then return to your desk.

5.       Place office mail in the bin on the table and place any notes for the teacher on her desk calendar.

6.       Pick up the Bell Work and begin working on the assignment at your own seat.

7.       Everyone should be working quietly at his or her own seat by 8:10am.

8.       Stand for prayers and the Pledge at 8:15.

9.       After prayers, line up quickly and quietly to go to your first class.

10.       In the hallway, students should line up in a single file line against the wall, always remaining quiet.

11.    Students will not be allowed to return to the classroom for forgotten books, notebooks, materials, or homework.

12.    If a teacher requests for a student to return to the homeroom for forgotten materials, the student will lose their recess privileges for the day.

13.    If a student needs to speak to me about a private matter, the student should leave me a note on my desk in the morning and I will speak with that student before classes begin.
